Friday Free-For-All (Thirteen)

Welcome to Friday Free-For-All, where I talk about anything and everything on my mind.  This is usually just a great big brain dump, so brace yourselves!

I brought a golf ball to work and I’ve been rolling my feet under my desk.  Words cannot describe how awesome this feels.  I’ve been having intermittent foot pain and tweakiness for months, so I’m hopeful that this will alleviate those issues.  I REALLY don’t want to end up with Plantar Fasciitis.

My Erin Condren Life Planner has finally arrived!  This has seriously been an odyssey–I ordered it almost a month ago!  So far, I’m totally enamored, but obviously I need to use it for a while to see if it actually stands up to all the hype.  Would any of you be interested in a quick review in a few weeks when I’ve had a chance to use it and abuse it a bit?

I’m off to the Northeast Kingdom this weekend.  Yup, there’s a kingdom in Vermont.  Well, not really, obviously.  But the northeast corner of the state is referred to as the Northeast Kingdom, and it’s beautiful–very stereotypical Vermont.  Lots of farmland, cows, and not a lot of houses or people.  Also, no cell phone service, and probably no wi-fi in the cabin.  So it will be radio-silence for me this weekend.  I’m looking forward to swimming, sunning, boating, fishing, and catching up on sleep with my family.

I desperately want to go on a shopping spree.  I need work clothes.  I need running clothes.  I need underwear… But I can’t afford any of that right now, so I’m just going to suck it up and deal.  And whine a lot.

What are your weekend plans?

I would be interested in your Erin Condren review–if you like it, I might order one to be shipped to my hotel in Orlando or Hawaii! lol.

As for the new clothes–that’s hard–maybe see if any friends want to do a clothing swap? Then you would just have to worry about undies–and the run gear (btw you can get cheap and good run gear at Old Navy).

Ahhhhh!!!! I got my EC Lesson Planner a couple of weeks ago and LOVE IT!! So excited for you! And YES, post pics and tell us how you organize it. I’m an EC newb and having been scouring blogs for ideas (I may or may not have even joined an EC Facebook group 😛 )

Bring on the life planner review! Since you first mentioned it, I’ve been dying to order one up for myself, so I’d love to hear about it. I think I’m going to save it for a reward for doing something good. Yes, like a child, I need rewards. 🙂

I’ll go shopping with you? What type of clothes do you need? I love Zara for more formal things. Mod Cloth has great dresses. JCrew Outlet is great. I love that you are soooooo becoming a runner with your golf ball 😀

I’d be interested in a review too! I’m a huge nerd about stuff like that 🙂

Have you ever used SteepandCheap.com? They sell a lot of active wear, as well as everyday clothes, at big discounts. There are often limited quantities and they’re not always in the sizes you’d want, but I try to do a cursory check every day or two to see if they’re offering anything I need. I’ve gotten a good amount of my running clothes from them at relatively cheap prices. ON is probably more reasonable for most things though… but I have seen sports bras offered on S&C for really good prices. Might be worth a look!

After last weekend at the massive Destiny USA mall in Syracuse then the Ithaca (tiny) mall … I am good for a bit (not true, I’d go shopping again in a second!)

Tomorrow the boys have to be at the high school for marching band at 10AM, then play at the football opener, then travel nearly 2 hours for a marching band competition … ugh, too much driving!

Plan to get in runs, though … 🙂

    Have a great weekend!

I’m catching up on some older posts in my email so sorry for the late comment!

I need a lot of new clothes, too. I’ve been trying to buy things slowly. Every week or two I will go shopping and buy one or two pieces. My current focus is amassing dress clothes for interviews (and just because I don’t really have any dress clothes), so last weekend I bought a skirt and this weekend I am hoping to find a shirt and blazer to go with it. I also had to buy a new winter jacket, which ran me $180 at the Columbia outlet, but hopefully that will last at least several years. My previous jacket was from JC Penney, I think it was a JCP brand, and I wore it for 6-8 years.

I’m trying to do the same thing–slowly but surely acquiring what I need instead of dropping massive bank all at once. I’m pretty well set on running stuff now, just need maybe one long-sleeve shirt. And then it’s on to work stuff–my least favorite thing to spend money on :/
