Another busy week. I’m finally starting to adjust to my crazy pants schedule, but I do wish there were more days in the week sometimes. Training for the Spring Fling 10k is going well, and I’ve been feeling really strong in my running thanks to all the cross-training lately.
Monday 02/16/15: Body Pump. I had the day off from work AND rehearsal, which was a pleasant surprise. I spent most of the day puttering around the house before attending class in the afternoon. This is only the second time I’ve taken Body Pump, and I really wish my schedule weren’t so crazy right now, because the only option I have to take the class regularly is at 6am on Tuesdays. Yuck. Also did some rolling when I got home.
Tuesday 02/17/15: Rest day. As I mentioned in last week’s Manic Monday post, Tuesday is the only day of the week I actually get to go home right after work, and it’s really nice to just relax.
Wednesday 02/18/15: First speed work since October! I warmed up for a mile at about a 10:30/mile pace, and then did 4×400 at about 9 min/mile pace, with a 400 recovery in between. It was challenging, but not awful. I then spent a good 10-15 minutes doing a thorough stretch after.
Thursday 02/19/15: Usually, I would have gone to CXWORX, but I had an audition about 45 minutes from my office, and it was snowing, so I didn’t want to cut it too close and be delayed because of the weather. I did, however, do some dancing at the audition, so it wasn’t a total rest day.
Friday 02/20/15: Ran 4 treadmill miles after work, which is the longest run I’ve done since before I hurt my foot in November! Yay! It wasn’t totally magical, but it still felt good to get it done. I made sure to stretch very thoroughly after.
Saturday 02/21/15: Rest day. We went to visit my parents for the day, and sat on our butts eating snacks and drinking beers. We were supposed to go to a party in the evening, but the weather was really crappy, and what should have been an hour and a half drive back to our area was more like two and a half, so we just decided to stay home.
Sunday 02/22/15: Semi-rest day. I didn’t do any actual workouts, but rehearsal was full of dancing and jumping rope, so I still ended up getting my sweat on.
The goal for this week is to continue to focus on recovery efforts. Sleep. Stretching. Hydration. Rolling. Things are only going to get more crazy as the show date approaches, and I need to be taking care of myself so I get through it in one piece. Here’s the tentative plan for this week:
- Monday: 3 miles, stretch; rehearsal
- Tuesday: Rest; stretch and roll
- Wednesday: 2 miles, stretch; rehearsal
- Thursday: Rest–dinner with friends
- Friday: 4 miles (maybe speedwork?); rehearsal
- Saturday: Rest–Mardi Gras parade! I might get to ride on the Legally Blonde float 😀
- Sunday: Rest; rehearsal
