Another imperfect week, but I’m just trying to roll with it because my schedule sucks. I at least did a speed run and a long run, so I’m feeling really good about the 10k this weekend.
Monday 03/09/15: 4×800 with 1/2 mile warm up and 400 recovery in between. This ended up being a total of 3.25 miles. It was difficult, I won’t lie. Definitely harder than doing 400s, but since I’m training for a 10k, I figured longer intervals would be more beneficial. I also jump roped a bunch at rehearsal.
Tuesday 03/10/15: Rest day. Ben and I cooked dinner together and then relaxed and watched movies until bed time.
Wednesday 03/11/15: Long run–5 miles. I switched my long run to Wednesday because it was supposed to be significantly warmer than Friday, and I wanted to run outside. It was sunny and 50 degrees when I set out after work, and while it felt amazing to be outside, outside running is WAY different than treadmill running, and it was very wet and muddy, so my pace wasn’t that great. Oh well.
Thursday 03/12/15: Unscheduled rest day. This should have been CXWORX, but I’ve still been EXHAUSTED this week. I think it’s a combination of higher mileage, increased rehearsal intensity, and not sleeping well this past weekend, but whatever the cause, I just wasn’t feeling class and went straight home after work.
Friday 03/13/15: I didn’t have rehearsal until 8:30 pm, so I decided to blow off my recovery run and go run errands, then hang out with Ben and some friends for a little bit. This was a great choice. It was nice to knock a few things off my to-do list and go into the weekend less stressed out. I did do some jumping rope at rehearsal, so this wasn’t a total rest day.
Saturday 03/14/15: Rest day. Lots of cleaning and rearranging things around the house, and then a game night with friends.
Sunday 03/15/15: 4 hour rehearsal with lots of dancing and jumping rope.
The plan for this week is to gear up for the 10k on Saturday morning. Rest up, hydrate, fuel appropriately, and kick ass! Unfortunately, I’m not feeling 100% health-wise (scratchy, dry throat), so I’m trying to make sure I get to the weekend healthy.
- Monday: 3 easy miles
- Tuesday: Rest–birthday drink with my sister
- Wednesday: 3 easy miles
- Thursday: CXWORX and date night
- Friday: Rest
- Saturday: Spring Fling 10k
- Sunday: Rest
Who else is racing this weekend?
Good luck on your 10K on Saturday! I know you will do great, Rae!!!
Thanks, sweetie! I’m excited 😀
Despite unscheduled rest days, I think this week was a success… any week that includes speed work and a long run is a good one, I think! 800s are tough, especially when you’re used to 400s! Long distance high-five for getting it done 🙂 And good luck with your 10K!!
Thanks, Dana! If I can just manage to fend off this cold, I think it will be a good race.
Oh no! Lots of rest, lots of water. Fingers crossed you fight it off in plenty of time!
I sure hope so! My coworker has been deathly ill for weeks and I’m worried I might have caught her plague 😦
Great week! So glad you got to embrace the outdoors again too! Rest up for this weekend – I know you’ll do great 🙂
Thank you! Just need to make bed time and recovery a priority this week.
Get out of here, scratchy throat! I hope you are feeling 100% for this weekend! Hooray for race week! Great job getting in those 800s too and pushing out of your comfort zone. They are so much harder than 400s for me too!
I think I need to do them more often!
Good luck on your race!!! Sounds like your training is on track!! Try taking EmergenC this week, it really helps battle oncoming colds! xo
My boss has a box of it on her desk and I’ve been raiding it!
Nice job! You got this! I’m racing a Half Marathon in Dallas! Is it your birthday or sister’s? Mine is Wed!
My younger twin sisters’ birthday is Thursday 🙂 Happy early birthday to you!
Speed work and a long run is awesome! Seriously your schedule makes me tired, you rock for getting through it all!! Good luck this weekend!
Thanks, Fallon! I can’t lie, I’m really looking forward to late April when the show is over so I can relax a bit.
