July 2015 Wrap-Up

I haven’t done a monthly wrap-up post in forever, but since this month was such a good one, I figured now would be a good time to revive the tradition.

Miles Run: 62

As I stated on Friday, this is my highest monthly mileage ever. Even in the midst of training for two half marathons last year, I peaked at 54 miles in a month. What’s amazing is, I’m WAY busier this summer than I was last summer. I guess maybe I really like this whole running thing after all, huh?

Total Number of Runs: 17

I think this may be the most runs I’ve ever had in a month, too. And I’m just counting days run, here; there were actually a couple of two-a-days this month! Something seems to be clicking, and I like it.

Races Run: 1

The Jaxson’s Dog Days of Summer 10k was not the triumphant first 10k I was hoping for, but if you read my recap and my breakdown, you know that it was definitely a learning experience. I’m already looking for a “redemption” 10k.

Notable Highs:

– The Lake Champlain Running Club has been amazing, particularly the Thursday night track workouts. While I’ve only made it to two, I can tell that they are making me stronger both mentally and physically.

– Starting a training plan for Wine and Dine

Notable Lows:Β 

– Feeling like crap all through my first 10k race

Goals for Next Month:

My main goal for August is to keep my mileage up. My Asics plan has it so that I should be running about 74 miles, but we all know how good I am at following training plans… I’d like to hit at least 60 miles again, and anything over and above that will be icing on the cake.

Other than that, I don’t have big plans for August. Chess opens at the end of the month, so things are going to be pretty hectic from here on out. I’ll be lucky if I can hit my mileage goals, so I don’t need to go adding a bunch more that will only end up stressing me out.

    High five for an awesome month! My July wasn’t ideal, but I just looked at my Garmin data and it was a definite improvement from June. Hopefully August will continue the trend πŸ™‚

    Great month – you have so much happening you should be really proud! Funny though – I read your race training plan as ‘train for wine and dine’ and that just struck me funny πŸ™‚

    July turned out pretty well for me – broke 60 miles pretty much every week and even broke 70 miles last week! Solid running on my new schedule (Lisa works M-F normal-people hours except for occasional weekend at new job)
