Monday 08/03/15: 40 Minutes Run/Walk Intervals with Emily | 37 Minutes Run/Walk Intervals
I didn’t have rehearsal until 8:30, so I had time to drive over to Emily’s neighborhood to meet her. She’s still doing so well; I’m such a proud coach!
Tuesday 08/04/15: Rest | Rest
We had our annual Client Appreciation event for work, which was a cruise aboard the Northern Lights on Lake Champlain. It’s a lot of work to put together every year, so I’m glad that’s done and over with.
Wednesday 08/05/15: 4.5 Miles Progressive | 4.5 Miles Progressive
I managed to drag my butt out of bed at 5:30 am and run before work, and I’m glad I did. The weather was absolutely perfect and this run felt great. My splits were spot on and I didn’t feel like death after. Winning all around!
Thursday 08/06/15: Run Club Speed Workout | Rest
I was just feeling exhausted, so I decided to skip run club and spend my evening chilling in yoga pants, eating popcorn and binge-watching NCIS on Netflix. This was a great choice. I did end up doing 30 squats and some planks just to redeem myself a little bit, though.
Friday 08/07/15: Rest | 3 mile runch
I knew Ben’s folks were coming into town after work, so I snuck in a glorious 3 mile run on my lunch break. We had a cool snap this week, so it was perfect running weather.
Saturday 08/08/15: 6.5 Miles Slow | 6.62 Miles
I met up with the Lake Champlain Running Club for a 5k at 8 am, and ran it faster than I probably should have. After that, I headed over to the Ti-Haul Trail/Shelburne Bay Rec Path for another 3.5 miles on my own, and also ran that faster than I meant to. I’ve realized that hot weather REALLY takes a toll on me; the weather on Saturday was cool and breezy, and this faster pace actually felt easy. I can’t wait for fall running…
Sunday 08/09/15: Rest | Rest
Rehearsal ended up being cancelled, so I had a rare weekend day at home with no plans. I cooked, I cleaned, I watched TV… It was great.
Total Weekly Mileage: 16.51
I’m pleased with how this last week went, and hope for more of the same this week. However, as a reality check, I have 3 evening rehearsals this week, as well as a 12+ hour technical rehearsal scheduled for Sunday, so who knows what will happen. Here’s what I would consider ideal:
- Monday: Rest
- Tuesday: 45 minute run/walk intervals with Emily
- Wednesday: 4.5 miles progressive
- Thursday: Run club speed workout
- Friday: Rest
- Saturday: 5k with run club + 4 extra for 7 total
- Sunday: Rest
Do you struggle as much as I do with summer/hot weather running?
I nominated your for a Liebster Award – https://myfirst5k.wordpress.com/2015/08/09/ive-been-nominated/
Yay, thanks, Darlene!
Well done getting up at 5:30 for a run! That makes me exhausted just to think about 😉 I also struggle bad with running in the heat… cool fall weather feels so glorious and makes me feel so fast after suffering through summer!
Can. Not. Wait.
The summer heat sure takes a toll on my running! Good for you!
Thanks! I’ve really been enjoying this cooler weather, but I know it can’t last 😦
In my eyes you are extremely dedicated! Great runs!
Well thank you! I’m trying to stick with “The Plan” as much as possible 🙂
5:30 am! Awesome! I used to be ok with the heat but this summer has been odd. While it hasn’t been as hot – only high 90’s- the humidity just won’t stop. We keep being affected by odd tropical storms. I miss my 100 degrees with 10% humidity. 🙂 Or fall, is it fall yet?
It’s coming faster than you think! I’m trying not to hurry it along, but dang it, fall is my favorite!
Great job with the running! You’re definitely not the only one who runs much better when it’s cooler out. The heat and humidity mess with my pacing and running ability so much. Although I had fun in Chile, I can’t believe what horrible luck I had missing out on this gorgeous weather though. I came back to another heat wave
I know, it’s miserable here! Glad to be stuck in the theater all week!
