Monday 08/10/15: Rest | Rest
I had rehearsal in the evening, so I just had a quick dinner at home before heading to the theater.
Tuesday 08/11/15: 45 Minutes Run/Walk Intervals | 3 mile run
Unfortunately, Emily tore her rotator cuff during a strength workout with her trainer, and she wasn’t feeling up to a run, so I headed out on my own. It was a fairly speedy run, which I wasn’t necessarily trying for, but with the cooler weather we’ve been having lately, I’m finding it much easier to run faster.
Wednesday 08/12/15: 4.5 Miles Progressive | The BEST Run Ever!
I was too lazy to get up and run before work, so I decided to squeeze a quick run in between work and rehearsal. Apparently having a time crunch helps me run fast, because holy smokes, Batman, this run was FAST! If this run had been a 5k race, I would have crushed my PR. As it was, I had two sub-9 minute miles and an overall pace of 8:57 per mile. WHO AM I???
Thursday 08/13/15: Run Club Speed Workout | Rest
I was starting to feel incredibly tired and worn down on Thursday, so I decided to take an unscheduled rest day. Things are only going to get more frantic next week, so I decided to just take a break while I can. Ben made dinner, and we watched some TV together before an early lights out, which was EXACTLY what I needed.
Friday 08/14/15: Rest | Rest
I can almost count this is an “active” rest day, because we had a full run-through of the show at rehearsal, and this show is totally exhausting for me. It’s an emotional roller coaster, and by the end I’m wiped out.
Saturday 08/15/15: Run Club 5k + 4 Solo Miles | Rest
I had tons of errands to run in order to get ready for the crazy week ahead, so running fell out of the priority list. I did laundry, grocery shopped, and picked up some last minute stuff for the show. Then, Ben and I went out to dinner with his parents, because Ben’s birthday is Tuesday, and I’ll be at work all day and dress rehearsal all night (terrible wife award, right here!). And after that, it was a going away party for some friends. But don’t worry, I was home and in bed by 11.
Sunday 08/16/15: Rest | Rest
Longest. Day. Ever. We had a 12+ hour technical rehearsal, after which I went to a motel and slept for 4 hours, then got up at 4 am to be at the theater at 5 to be on live television. Hopefully I’ll have some links for you tomorrow!
Because this week will most likely be koo-koo bananas, I will not be making a workout schedule. If I run, great. If I don’t, no sweat. I need to stay well-rested and healthy in order to get through this show. After this weekend, I’ll have Sun-Wed with no rehearsals or obligations outside of work, so I just need to push through until then. Hopefully next week I’ll be able to get back on a semi-regular schedule.
How was your weekend? Hopefully less crazy than mine!
Love to read “the best run ever.” Even better, I would love to have one LOL
I hope you get one soon!
LOVE that you had a great run! My weekend was filled with tons of house projects, not quite as fun, but definitely rewarding!
Oh yeah, projects around the house are always super satisfying to complete!
For sure! 😉
WOW how do you balance everything!!! Being at the theater seems like a full time job on top of your job! You are awesome. Killed it on that progression run!!! Amazing!
Thanks, lady! The running has definitely taken a back seat this week, but hoping to be back at it next week 🙂
Wow, that’s a lot! Enjoy that rest, you have a lot going on! Just the idea of a 12 hour rehearsal exhausts me. I don’t know how you did it!
It wasn’t pretty, but I made it out alive 😉
Don’t you love amazing runs like that?! Congrats on having such an awesome training run! If only the weather could cooperate all the time. You are such a busy bee all the time. I’m glad you know when you need that extra rest. It sounds like you really need it especially after 12-hour rehearsals!
Oh yeah, this week is ALL about the rest, haha!
