Happy Tuesday, everyone! I trust I’m not the only one who was thrown off by the holiday weekend? No? Good. I fully intended to get my Manic Monday post up yesterday, but then I slept till 11, did some stuff around the house, went to the beach, watched a movie, and fell asleep. So yeah, that didn’t happen. And now, instead of Manic Monday, we’re looking at Tardy Tuesday 😉
What Was Planned vs. What Happened
Monday 08/31/15: 3 Miles Easy | 4 Miles Progressive
I really did intend to take it easy, but I simply couldn’t make my legs slow down! Since I was going faster than planned, I decided to do a progressive run, and hit great negative splits the whole way. I also did my Dailies, so this day was a total win!
Tuesday 09/01/15: Run/Walk Intervals with Emily | 3 Miles Easy
Emily was swamped at work, so I went out for three easy miles on my own. It was hot and humid, so I didn’t have as hard a time staying at an “easy” pace. I also took my new Buff for its inaugural run. Stay tuned for a review post soon!
Wednesday 09/02/15: 3 Miles Easy | Rest
I really intended to go hit the treadmill for some intervals, but once I got home I just didn’t feel like doing ANYTHING. I made dinner and did some laundry, but otherwise the evening was spent watching Netflix and knitting. It was just what I needed before the insanity of the weekend kicked off.
Thursday 09/03/15: Rest | Rest
We kicked off the final weekend of shows for Chess the musical. I should have gone straight home to bed after, but it was the final night for one of our cast members (his son was getting married), so I went out to celebrate with him.
Friday 09/04/15: Rest | Rest
After staying out later than I should have and getting up for work, I was dog tired. I made it through the show and went straight home to bed.
Saturday 09/05/15: Rest | Rest
I woke up early for my voice lesson, then ran errands in preparation for our final two shows and the cast party. The last two shows went really well, and then I was in full-on party mode. The house we rented was AWESOME, and I stayed up until 6 am drinking and laughing.
Sunday 09/06/15: Rest | REST
Holy rest. All the rest. I managed about 2 hours of sleep before we had to head to the theatre to disassemble our sets and stuff, and then we went to Ben’s parent’s house with the intention of doing some pig roast prep. But we were both so exhausted, we ended up crashing out and napping most of the afternoon. His parents invited us to stay for dinner, and then we were home and in bed by 10:30.
So there you have it. This was the final weekend of Chess. Stay tuned for a sort of wrap up/digestion post on that. In short, I’m feeling a lot of feelings right now. It’s hard. I’m really looking forward to getting back on a normal sleep and workout schedule, because I think the structure will help fill the void this show will inevitably leave. Here’s a tentative schedule for the week.
- Monday: Rest
- Tuesday: Short, easy run
- Wednesday: 4-5 miles moderate
- Thursday: Sh’Bam
- Friday: Rest–pig roast prep
- Saturday: Rest–pig roast
- Sunday: Rest–pig roast recovery and clean up
How was your holiday weekend?
