This week has kicked my ass. The first two weeks after the quarter ends are my busiest times at work. That is exponentially so this quarter, because we’re revamping some of our quarterly processes, and I’m now responsible for a lot more stuff, yet still not 100% certain what I’m responsible for and how to do it. Thus, I am WAY behind in my blogging. I owe you a Color Run recap, I have a Fall Bucket List, and I have a product review that will hopefully go up later today. Cross your fingers that work will calm down a bit next week and things will get back to normal around here.
Because I’ve been so busy, I haven’t run at all this week. But I’m OK with it. I did Body Pump on Monday and Tap on Wednesday, so it’s not like I was a sloth all week. And I have run club tomorrow, which will be at least 3 miles, and my 10 mile training run on Sunday.
Starting yesterday, I’m off sugar, bread, pasta, and most processed foods until the end of the month. I’m loosely following the Whole Life Challenge “Lifestyle” diet plan, which I heard about through Kristen at Run Away With Me. But I’m doing things my way: I’m not giving up dairy, and I’m allowing myself one small glass of wine per day, otherwise I might kill someone. Yes, this will be hard. No, this is not a permanent change; I will never permanently give up pasta. HOWEVER, I’ve been on what I’ve been calling the “garbage diet” since before Chess ended. I’ve been eating anything and everything; not enough protein, not enough produce, too much pasta, too much sugar, and too much popcorn drowning in butter and salt. I feel gross. I need a hard-stop reset to get my habits back in order. More fruit and veg. Less processed junk. I’ll be counting on support from my Team Can-Am accountabilibuddies Lisa, Kellie, Kim, and Nicole. Wish me luck!
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?
WOOOT!!! Accountabilibuddies! I had a rough week myself but I blame surging hormones. Bah!
Blargh. Yeah, I have a party to go to tonight. Need to seriously engage my will power!
Word man. Word! 🙂
Good luck with the Whole Life Challenge! I’ve heard great things about that. You are the furthest thing from a sloth! I want to go to tap class. Now THAT sounds freaking fun. Although I have two left feet so I would just bring the entertainment whole everyone dances in circles around me 🙂
The class I’m in is great cause it’s all different ages, and most people have never tapped before, so we’re all flailing around together 🙂
GL. I would die without sugar and carbs.
Haha, I just might!
What that is a rude thing to do to kick your ass. Fun things for this weekend: I’m going to be running the Ditka Dash tomorrow after coaching as part of my corporate wellness thing (I’m the only person running the marathon, so that doesn’t count WOMP WOMP). As part of the swag I get aviators and a mustache. This is going to be interesting.
That sounds like the best swag ever! Have fun!
I’ve been swamped busy too!!
I don’t think I could do a food challenge like that–GO YOU!!!
Well, I’m not being quite as strict as the actual program, but it’s still hard. Fingers crossed it helps me get back on track!
Sorry you’ve had a rough week! Work stress is no fun. Hopefully things calm down soon! Good luck with the lifestyle challenge, it looks tricky!
Thank you! I think this week will still be busy, though not as stressful as last week. And so far, so good on the food challenge. Hard, but not impossible.
Whew!
Just catching up – and this has been my most-eating, least-running week since I purposefully took a week off last summer when we took our NYC vacation! Had Lisa’s birthday mid-last week (big one – 50), and then on Thursday took off for a long NYC weekend to visit Danny at NYU and do all sorts of stuff. Crazy! So exhausted coming back that I didn’t get up this morning and feel like a total blob! 😦 But I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
Back to it tomorrow …
Sounds like a wonderful weekend– I enjoyed seeing your posts on Instagram! Enjoy getting back to running 🙂
Delayed reaction, but here’s hoping things calm down a bit for you! Work’s been insane for me, too. At least it’s nice to feel useful…?!
This is true–the days go by much faster!
OMG I just saw this and I’m so excited! Yay for being inspired by the Whole Life Challenge! I can’t wait to hear how it goes for you!
Thanks, lady! I’m not being super strict, but it’s definitely helping regardless.
