Friday Free-For-All – 12/11/15

FFFA (1)

I feel like it’s been a while since we’ve had one of these… since before Thanksgiving? Wow. Time to get my ish together…

I decorated the office for Christmas this week and it’s making me SO HAPPY. I love coming in every morning and turning on the lights and smelling the balsam sachet on my desk. It’s really helping me get into the Christmas spirit, which, for the first time ever, I’m having a bit of trouble with. It might be the weather (no snow on the ground), or being stressed out about Mary Poppins auditions, or who knows, but I’m finally getting there.

My sister-in-law Emily is home from Prague for a whole month! She arrived on Wednesday, and Sunday is her birthday, so we’ll be doing dinner with the whole family. It will be great to see Emily and do fun things like watch movies and play video games together. I’m sure she’ll come into town and stay with us at least a few nights šŸ™‚

I had a callback for the title role in Mary Poppins last night. It was very exciting to be asked to come in to sing and read some more. I think it went well, but casting a show is like putting together a puzzle, and at this point, I just have to hope that I fit the big picture. I won’t know until tomorrow afternoon!

The RW Holiday Run Streak is over for me. I made it two weeks, which I think is pretty damn good, but I’m done. I’ll talk more about it in a post next week, but for now I’ll just say that I’m not injured or anything like that, so don’t worry!

What’s the longest run streak you’ve ever done?

Are you feeling the Christmas spirit?

I have no idea re: run streaks. I always try to take one day off a week.

As for Christmas spirit…oy I feel SO behind. I want another few weeks to get ready…but I think after this weekend’s festive baking and festive events, I will be feeling far more Christmassy!

Definitely getting into the spirit – we put up the tree while Danny was home from college, and are slowly finishing everything else. I got up the outdoor lights, we worked on some inside decorations … all coming together.

As for running streaks, I wrote about my 2012/13 streak early last year (https://txa1265.wordpress.com/2014/02/03/what-i-learned-from-my-2012-13-running-streak/) – I did 65 days and just about 500 miles before I stopped. At the time it felt important for me to do the streak, and I think it really cemented long-distance running as part of my life like never before.

I’m just glad you’re not injured … that is always my biggest thing.

Hope things for Mary Poppins turn out well!

Thanks, Mike! My short stint streaking definitely helped me learn some things, but ultimately, it’s not for me.
All our Christmas decorations are still in a storage unit, and we’re so busy I doubt we’ll decorate our place this year. I can’t wait to get to my parents’ house because they go all out with the decorations šŸ™‚

I’m having trouble getting into the holiday spirit this year. I can’t figure out what is making me so Grinch-y. I put up most the of the work Christmas decorations this week but it didn’t help. Maybe because as I sit here, it’s sunny and 70 outside? Stinkin work town with its beach weather. I hope Mary Poppins works out for you!
