Manic

What Was Planned vs. What Happened

Monday 01/04/16: Rest | Rest
Nailed it! I was exhausted after a long weekend of partying and lots of driving to and from NJ, so I was a total slug.

Tuesday 01/05/16: Short run | 10 Minutes Core
It was ridiculously cold so I didn’t want to run outside, and Ben had to work late, so I couldn’t get to the gym, so no running for me. But I did cram in some core stuff just so I wouldn’t feel like a total waste of space.

Wednesday 01/06/16: Spin | Rest
As I said on Wednesday, this was the first Wednesday in almost two months that I didn’t get up for spin class. And I know part of the reason why: I didn’t sign up in advance. If I sign up in advance, I HAVE to go, or that’s almost $15 wasted. So yeah, I need to get back in the habit of signing up on Sunday nights to help pull me out of bed.

Thursday 01/07/16: Short run | Rest
Another day of Ben working late and below freezing temps meant another day of no running. I can’t wait until we have our truck back on the road and I have a car again!

Friday 01/08/16: RestActive Rest Day (Dancing)
I didn’t do an actual workout, but I went out dancing for a few hours with friends, which is better than just sitting on my rump and playing video games all night.

Saturday 01/09/16: 5-6 milesRest
Friday night’s exertions proved a bit too much for me. I slept until 11 and had a hard time recovering. You know you’re getting old when having two drinks and staying out till 2 am causes an all day hangover…

Sunday 01/10/16: YogaRest
We ended up staying with my in-laws on Saturday night, which meant no am yoga.

So yeah, this week was kind of a non-workout week. And as I said last week, I’m ok with it. This was my last “off” week for a loooong time, so I enjoyed the freedom to sit on my butt and relax, see friends, drink too much, and be lazy. Now, I’m ready to embrace MARATHON TRAINING. I have my Coach Suz plan in my hot little hands, and I’m VERY excited to get started. This week is sort of a “let’s ease back into the whole not being a lazy piece of garbage” kind of thing. Hopefully I remember how to run…

Do you have a hard time recovering after a late night out, or am I just old and lame?

Pitiful, but I gave up booze b/c it was starting to take to long to recover. I know mine is b/c of old age. But hey, lost 8 pounds as a side benefit!

You are TOTALLY old and lame! 😀 haha

But I also think that sometimes our body says ‘enough’ and it is important to listen. As I mentioned before, over the Christmas – New Year break we had too many non-dinners and pretty much had two glasses of wine each night (and Lisa had two of something 🙂 ), which is really more than I like (I’m happy with one glass). So we’ve cut way back and had just a few drinks, and eaten much better meals … and everyone is happy!

Excited to hear about you and Suz!

There’s nothing wrong with a non workout week especially right before you start marathon training! It’s been a while since I’ve had a long night out. I guess that means I’m old and lame lol.

Dude, I’m with you on the rough recoveries after nights out. That’s probably most of the reason I stay in most nights, cozy and happy and lazy in the ‘burbs 🙂 But I’m an old lady now, so that’s probably part of the reason too!
