Vermont City Marathon Training Week 11
What Was Planned vs. What Happened
Monday 03/21/16: 40 Min. Easy Run | 40 Min/3.59 Miles
It was cool and quite breezy, but the sun was out. I’m really enjoying having daylight for after work runs. I had a hard time keeping myself to easy/recovery pace, but on the whole this run felt good.
Tuesday 03/22/16: Ladder Workout | Ladder Workout
I warmed up for a mile, then did intervals of 3, 4, 5, 4, 3 minutes, with 2 minutes of recovery in between, and a half mile cool down. I ended up with 4.34 miles and an overall pace of 10:36, which I was VERY happy with.
Wednesday 03/23/16: Spin Class | Rest Day
Ben had parent teacher conferences all evening, and I needed the car for rehearsal, so I ended up having to drop Ben off at work in the morning, which meant no spin class for me. I was pretty ok with it anyway. I’m about to head into a crazy week, and I need all the sleep I can get.
Thursday 03/24/16: 45 Min. + Strides | Rest
I forgot that I had a sound EQ at the theatre on Thursday night, so this run ended up not happening. Ah well.
Friday 03/25/16: Rest/Strength | Rest/Rehearsal
This was an active rest day, because I did plenty of dancing at rehearsal.
Saturday 03/26/16: 16 Miles Easy | 16 Miles @ 10:57 Overall Pace
A new Personal Distance Record. This run felt great for the first 13 or so miles, and then after that I wanted to chop my lower legs off. My calves were tight and my ankles were really sore, which is something totally new for me. I’ve NEVER had sore ankles during or even after a run before. I think my Mirages are finally hitting the end of their lifespan, but my new shoes STILL haven’t arrived at Fleet Feet. Or at least they haven’t called me yet. I don’t know. But now I’m even more frustrated with them. The good news is that after stretching, rolling, and icing, my ankles felt fine, so it seems no lasting damage was done.
Sunday 03/27/16: Yoga | Rest
I spent the morning grocery shopping and meal prepping for the crazy week ahead, and then I had tech rehearsal from 2:30-10:30 pm. It went surprisingly well, but I was exhausted by the end.
Weekly Mileage: 23.9
Total 2016 Mileage: 226.1
As I said in my Friday post, this week is going to be pretty hectic. I was supposed to get up and run this morning before work, and that simply didn’t happen. I barely managed to get myself to work on time. I’m hoping that I can pry myself out of bed for a run tomorrow morning, but I make no promises; I’m in survival mode right now.
