Vermont City Marathon Training Week 12
What Was Planned vs. What Happened
Monday 04/04/16: Rest | Rest
I rested most vigorously. I came home after work, made dinner, did a few meal prep things to help make the week go more smoothly, and was in bed by 10 pm. Delightful.
Tuesday 04/05/16: 40 Minute Easy Run | 4 Miles/43:26 (10:51 Pace)
It was a cold, windy day, but the sun was out, and I was happy to just go out and run. I tried to ignore my watch except when it beeped the miles, and I felt pretty good, if a bit fatigued.
Wednesday 04/06/16: Spin | Rest
I had good intentions. I really planned to go to class. But in the end I decided that extra sleep would be more important this week, so I slept as long as possible instead of going to an early class.
Thursday 04/07/16: Rest | Rest
Nailed it! Sort of. This was “second opening” for the second weekend of Mary Poppins, so I definitely wasn’t just sitting on my butt.
Friday 04/08/16: 45 Minute Moderate Run | Rest
I stayed in bed so long I was almost late for work, and it was a cold, damp day with some snow/sleet happening, so I opted not to runch. I know that skipping these runs is probably not helping me, but I’m so tired I can’t really care right now.
Saturday 04/09/16: Rest | Rest
I slept as long as I possibly could and still make it to the theatre on time, because with a two-show day on the docket, I knew I’d need all the rest I could get. It was a long, exhausting day.
Sunday 04/10/16: 10 Miles | Rest
While we only had one show to do, we had to do “strike” after. For you non-theatre folks out there, strike is when you rip apart the set and clean out the theatre so the next group can come in. Mary Poppins had a HUGE set, and I knew it was going to be a long, exhausting day, so I opted not to run.
I’ll probably do a Mary Poppins wrap up post later this week, but I’m feeling lots of feelings right now–relief, sadness, soreness (I told you that ripping apart that set was going to be rough) are just a few–so I’m using my day off today to try to process, rest, and get my sh*t together so I can resume marathon training.
