July is a birthday-ful month in my family. My older sister Jessica’s birthday was Monday, my mom’s birthday is today, and my dad’s birthday is next Friday. This means my budget is shot for the month, haha! Paying for all those presents in rapid succession is tough.
This is the first weekend all month that I haven’t had to travel somewhere. I am PUMPED. I’m pretty tired of driving, and it will be nice to just be at home and spend some quality time with Ben and our local friends. Our buddy Pete’s birthday celebrations are tomorrow, and then I have to work at Athleta on Sunday.
My running club changed their Saturday morning start time to 7:30 from 8 am and I am NOT a fan.Β I already had a hard enough time prying myself out of bed on Saturday for an 8 o’clock run, and now they expect me to get there for 7:30? Rude. Still though, I miss the camaraderie, and the excuse to drive to Shelburne and run on the Ti Path and Shelburne Bay Path. I haven’t made up my mind yet whether or not I’ll be attending tomorrow. I guess it depends on how late I stay up tonight. Also, I’m toying with the idea of switching my long run to tomorrow since I have to work a 6.5 hour shift at Athleta on Sunday. Decisions, decisions.
Do you wake up early on weekends to run?
I wake up early on weekend because my stupid body DOESN’T KNOW IT’S THE WEEKEND.
I just tell it to shut up and go back to sleep.
Mine doesn’t listen. EVER,
I’m up either between 5:30-6am to get out for my runs on the weekend….gotta beat the summer heat or it will be a horrible run. Sometimes I wonder why I get up so early (easily) on my long run days when getting up for work (6am) is a struggle. I do love the quiet time to myself and the roads aren’t as busy with cars or foot traffic.
Hope you have a great weekend!
I despise getting up early unless I absolutely have to. Kudos to you for making it happen!
Do I wake up early on weekends??? BAHAHAHAHA!!!!
My son’s birthday is tomorrow π
Well, with kiddos around I know it’s a totally different ballgame! Happy birthday little man!
Oof, your July sounds like my December- so many birthdays!
I never used to wake up early to run but I did this training cycle. I have a feeling my sloth like self will be back post race.π
I feel like everybody’s got one of those months. And yeah, once the sun starts rising later I won’t be getting up early. Running pre-dawn is no fun!
I’m not a fan of my super late start time for my run today. 5:30. IN THE AFTERNOON. Kill me
Oof. Yeah, evening races are tough. Especially in the summer.
My Sunday morning run crew usually heads out at 9, but in the summer they switch to 8. Ugh, it feels so much earlier. I also discovered that another group in my club runs along a nice, shaded path, but they go at 7 in the summer. Yeesh! I’m all for running when it’s cooler, but I also really love sleep. It’s a tough choice.
Truth
I’ve tried. And to be fair, I did enjoy it. But not to the extent that it was worth it for me. I’m not a morning person, so getting up at 5am to beat the sunrise just isn’t really for me. I do run “early-ish” most of the year, but during the worst heat of summer, I tie up my shoes as the sun sets.
In the past, I’ve done a lot of treadmill running to beat the heat, but I’m between gym memberships right now so that’s just not an option, and running and night freaks me out because I’m scared of the dark π¦
I can get up at 6 am for a weekend run but nothing earlier than that unless it involves an airport/plane/landing in Hawaii.
I despise getting up before 8 am on the weekend, unless, like you said, it involves vacation.
