This weekend was a bit more leisurely than last, thank goodness. I’m all about packing stuff in and having fun, but I need to balance those busy times with time for relaxation and catching up on life stuff. Check out what I got up to below!
Friday
I ended up skipping CrossFit to attend my first yoga class in quite a long time. My back and shoulders were feeling sore and I just felt like I needed to be in a nice, warm room and get my stretch on. Unfortunately, class was not the blissfull release I had anticipated. Firstly, I forgot my mat towel, which meant that I spent the entire class sliding all over the place and not really being able to relax at all. Then, class went 15 minutes over, meaning I was late to rehearsal. Whomp whomp.
At rehearsal, we did a run through of Act 1 and then worked a few bits. Still feeling very good about this show. I can’t wait to have an audience! Our Doralee and Mr. Hart are a real-life married couple, and they invited the whole cast and crew over to their house for a post-rehearsal pizza party. Everyone chipped in a few bucks and we did BYOB. I only had two glasses of wine, but ended up staying until 1:30 am, which is SUPER late for me. And then the roads were really bad and I almost went off the road three times and it took me twice as long to get home as it should have, so I didn’t make it into bed until almost 3 am. Ooof.
Saturday
After Friday night’s exertions, I slept until almost noon. I could have slept longer, but I really wanted to get some stuff done around the house. After a quick breakfast of egg and toast, I vacuumed the entire downstairs, put away laundry, threw in another load of laundry, and cleaned our room.
Saturday night, my friend Maria was having a birthday celebration downtown. I didn’t really want to drive into Burlington, but I’m awfully glad I did, as when I arrived, she was all by herself at the bar! I bought her a birthday drink, and then other people started showing up. I went to not one, but TWO bars on a Saturday night, and ended up staying out until 11:30. Again, really late for me.
Sunday
I would have liked to sleep in again on Sunday, but I had a costume fitting at 11 am, so I had to get up and on the road pretty quickly. My costume fitting was about as bad as I thought it would be. I left the costume shop feeling deflated and sad, and had to fight hard not to cry. I don’t have one single outfit that’s even remotely flattering, and most of them make me look downright awful.
I went to the mall for a little retail therapy and bought myself a new purse and some lunch before it was time to head to rehearsal. We did a full run of the whole show, and it went really, really well.
When I got home I had a snack and talked to my parents for a while, then ate some dinner and had a beer with Ben and my mother in law. After dinner, I had some chocolate chips and we watched the last episode of Season 1 of The Crown before an early bedtime.
This is the final week before the show opens. It’s about to get really busy around here. I’m going to do my best to get plenty of rest, eat healthy food, and not let the stress get me down.
What’s the latest you’ve stayed up recently?
Oh, I hate it when costumes don’t make you feel good. It’s the worst.
Hang in there!
Thanks, lady. I try really hard not to complain, because then they just get mad at you and do even less to make you look good. But it blows.
😦 about the costume fittings
Yeah. Not a happy feeling. But, more motivation to hit CrossFit and get back running!
Um… I don’t remember the last time I made it past 11….
I rarely do. That’s why two nights in a row past midnight has got me SO TIRED this week.
I felt lucky to stay up until midnight on new years, haha! Usually midnight these days is far to late for me and then I pay for it the next day.
Same. I actively dislike staying up late because it messes with me so much. Ugh.
Boo to the bad costumes but at least it sounds like you had a good weekend otherwise!
It really was a great weekend in spite of the costume blergs. Just trying to stay positive and not worry about it.
