Training For: Stowe 8 Miler?
What Was Planned vs. What Happened
Monday 06/26/17: CrossFit | Rest
I was still in SF, so this was a rest day. I suppose I could have tried to find a box, but I had limited luggage space and didn’t want to bring workout clothes/shoes.
Tuesday 06/27/17: 3 Miles Easy | Rest
This was a travel day. I spent close about 9 hours in airports and on planes, and was absolutely exhausted when I got home.
Wednesday 06/28/17: CrossFit | Rest
I worked all day and had rehearsal in the evening, so this was a rest day.
Thursday 06/29/17: 10 x 400 | CrossFit
Yay, first class back in a week! And it was a doozy! 40 minute EMOM of med ball squat snatches, double-unders, med ball sit ups, and pull ups. 45 seconds on, 15 seconds off. Hooooollyyy hell.
Friday 06/30/17: CrossFit | Rest
I fully intended to go to class, but my stomach was jacked up all afternoon, and I didn’t want to risk an incident, so I just went home.
Saturday 07/01/17: Rest | Rest
It was a gross, rainy day, so I just stuck around the house and took care of some cleaning, practiced my lines, and then went to the pig roast at my CF box, which was a total blast 🙂
Sunday 07/02/17: 7 Mile Run | Active Rest
Oops, no run! It was move-in day at the theatre for Dogfight, so I spent the day building sets with the crew and cast, then we did some promo photos.
Not a stellar week, and no running at all, but I ain’t mad. I’ve pretty much decided that I’m not running the Stowe 8 Miler this weekend. Number one, I’m not trained. Number two, I’m over budget yet again, so it would be really irresponsible to pay $50 for a registration fee. I’m still looking at some fall races, but the way things are going training-wise, it seems unlikely that I’ll be running any PRs this year.
For the next month, my main focus will be keeping up with fitness stuff as Dogfight rehearsals ramp up, and then the show opens. I’m going to try going to noon CrossFit classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week, to see if it’s a feasible schedule to keep up once my evenings are full. I’m trying REALLY hard to commit to going AT LEAST 2 times a week, but hopefully more like 3. We’ll see how this week goes.
Have you ever played cornhole or beer pong at your gym?
