Friday Free-For-All – 09/08/17

We’re house sitting for our friends Jaska and Penelope this week. They live in a really cool old farm house, and we’re taking care of their cat and chickens. On the one hand, it’s been really nice to have our own space and a break from my in-laws for a bit. On the other hand, living out of suitcases and sleeping in someone else’s weird bed is not so great. I’ve been sleeping VERY poorly all week, and I’ve been exhausted and grouchy as a result.

I had my first Lyric Development Committee meeting this week. So far, it seems like I made a good choice. The other committee members are friendly, dedicated, and knowledgeable, which is reassuring. And it doesn’t seem like it will be an enormous commitment of time and energy, but I’ll still be making valuable contributions to the organization. I’m excited to see how things progress.

I haven’t worked out at ALL since Monday’s long run. It’s kind of a bummer because I was on such a roll in August, but c’est la vie. I’m overtired from not sleeping well, and it’s been a busy week with work and social engagements, so I’m just gonna let it go. I’ll start fresh with a longish run tomorrow or Sunday to get back on track.

I started watching Lost on Netflix recently and I’m OBSESSED.Ā I know it was huge while it was actually on TV, and then everyone was really pissed off about the ending, but I never watched it. I felt like it was finally time for me to know what all the fuss was about. Somehow, I have made it all these years without actually ending how the show ends. I know, amazing, right? Here’s to some delightful days of binge-watching ahead šŸ™‚

    Binge watching on Netflix is a great thing. I never watched Lost but all I could think was, well you have getting pissed at the end to look forward to! Sometimes a break after a long run can be a great thing. By the end of the weekend, you will feel on top of it all again!

    Ohhhh Lost is soooo good!! I didn’t love the last few seasons but I was invested in it and stuck with it anyway. I think I started watching over summer break one year it when it was in it’s fourth or fifth season. I think that summer was Lost for me, hahaha. I don’t remember much happening except a LOT of binging!! Enjoy it!

    You are a little late to LOST, but it’s so good! I wish I could say that I liked the ending as much as the beginning, but I didn’t. Still intriguing and worth the watch. I’m such a big fan of Kate in that show ā¤

    We never watched Lost, and generally have never been into binge watching … maybe that is an effect of growing up in the ‘live TV only’ era, but whatever it is we can perhaps do 2 episodes and then need to stop.

    We’re also just not huge TV people, and don’t tend to watch without each other. So I am trying to catch up on the new Twin Peaks and American Gods, but Lisa isn’t interested in either, so I am way slow catching up … ugh

    I still can’t imagine living with my parents or in-laws … but I know it is part of your long term goals, and necessary to get their. Oh well … that makes it good to get away, but as you say even that has issues!

    As for working out … we all have ups and downs. I slept like crap last night, so I cut myself some slack and slept in this morning. I have run all week long, no biggie – but I still beat myself up about it!

      Last week was definitely rough on the sleep and working out front. I think not working out actually contributed to the poor sleep, but who knows. Anyways, it’s Monday, and a chance to start fresh!
