Friday Free-For-All – 11/10/17

I have officially kicked off Christmas shopping! Every year, I say I’m going to get done early, and every year, I’m scrambling the week before Christmas. But I’m REALLY trying hard to change my ways this year. I’ve already bought 7 gifts, and Ben is completely done! I’m having everything delivered to my office, and I’m going to bring wrapping supplies in so that I can wrap everything before bringing it home. That way I don’t have to worry about someone walking in on me wrapping their gift and spoiling the surprise.

Lyric’s A Christmas Story the Musical opened last night. Because I’m now on the PR/Development Committee, part of my job is to take a shift working at the membership table selling raffle tickets, so I did that last night before the show and at intermission. Opening night is always a great night to see a Lyric show because there’s a post-show reception afterwards with champagne and snacks. Unfortunately, I was overtired from staying up late the previous night with a very sick friend, so I didn’t even stay for the party. The show was VERY cute, though, and I’m glad I went.

I bought new flannel sheets for our bed, and I can’t wait for them to arrive! The flannel sheets that we have currently are at least 10 years old, and I’m also not even sure they’re actually queen-sized, so they don’t stay on the bed at all. I’ve been stalking these sheets on Target for a while, and when they went on sale this week, I pounced! I’m a huge fan of flannel sheets during the winter months, so I’m excited to upgrade.

We had our first snow in Underhill last night. The first snow is always so exciting and magical, and it was lovely to wake up to this morning. I meant to snap a picture, but between already running late and needed to scrape said snow and ice off my car, I didn’t get around to it. There’s no snow in town though, so it will be nice to return to it after work tonight.

Have you had your first snow yet?

We got our first snow on Wednesday afternoon, but I missed it … but our first snow that actually stuck was early this morning. Really not ready for fall to be over, I think it was the ‘second summer’ we had. Makes it a drag going out for my run at the coldest time of the day …

Haven’t started Christmas shopping yet, only just got our budget set up … actually got a bunch of Thanksgiving-centric stuff like wine glasses and coffee mugs as well as a new tablecloth and centerpiece for our formal dining room – surprisingly hard to find! Also have gotten a few Christmas things, but waiting until after Thanksgiving to Christmas-ize stuff.

Yeah, we definitely won’t decorate for Christmas for a while yet, but just getting some of the gift-buying out of the way makes everything seem less daunting.

We had our first snow, and it was actually quite lovely. I was really scared about going out there with crutches, but it was fine as long as I was in powder. It was the semi-cleared streets and crosswalks that were terrifying!
I haven’t started xmas stuf yet–but we finally started planning the baby shower!

I can’t imagine trying to crutch it on icy city streets and sidewalks! Be careful! Baby shower planning must be fun! Can’t wait to see how it all comes together 🙂
