Friday Free-For-All

We finally had our oil tanks inspected this week. As we suspected, the current configuration is NOT up to code, and will cost about $800 to fix. Thankfully, we still have money set aside in escrow for this work, but we are also rapidly coming up against our deadline. We’re really going to have to push to get the work done in time to be reimbursed.

The huge snow storm that was supposed to happen this week was kind of a bust. I know that my friends in other areas (hey, Jersey!) got absolutely dumped on, but we got barely three inches at our house, and we basically live on the side of a mountain. It was very disappointing.

Having a garage is my new favorite thing. Growing up, we always had garages. And said garages were always full of STUFF rather than CARS. But our new garage is blissfully free of junk, meaning we can park our cars in there and NOT HAVE TO CLEAR THEM OFF AFTER EVERY SNOWFALL. Which has been a huge blessing with the snow this week. I’m obsessed with my garage and vow never to fill it with so much crap that I can’t park in there.

Do you have a garage? Do you actually park your car(s) in it?

So jealous of your garage! We had one when I was little but since I didn’t drive and didn’t have to clear cars off, I didn’t appreciate how great it was.

It’s seriously so amazing. I feel really spoiled now. If it snows while I’m at work and I have to clean my car off I get all pissy, haha!

The area where I grew up it was common to make your garage into a sort of extra room in the summer. My grandma would screen in the garage, put in a rug and picnic table, and that’s where we all hang out, play cards, eat in the summer. I didn’t know this wasn’t “normal” until my now husband asked me why we all hung out in the garage. 😂

Absolutely love our garage – yeah, growing up my parents had a detached 1-car garage that was basically an over-sized shed for all kinds of crap. Our first house after getting married didn’t have a garage, and it wasn’t a ‘must’ when we moved out here. So getting a nice two-car attached garage … just awesome from the word go! Can’t imaging without one now!
