My sister and mom are throwing me a baby shower. At first I was sort of “meh” about the whole shower thing, but then my sister sent me a picture of the invites that she had a friend CUSTOM DESIGN and they are so effing cute I cried and now I’m all “YES, SHOWER ME WITH ATTENTION AND BABY STUFF I’M READY!”. Pregnancy hormones are crazy, ya’ll.
We FINALLY submitted our sample to get our well retested. The deadline to get repaid for the test and any follow up work through escrow is March 25. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, eh? And of course, our water failed. FML. Our well water is “bacteriologically unacceptable for human consumption” and we now have to have our well company to come dump chlorine in our well, then retest it again once all the chlorine has been flushed through the system. We really shot ourselves in the foot on this one by waiting so long to do the re-test. If we had done it a month ago, we could have gotten the chlorine treatment and third test paid for through the escrow account before the deadline. Ah well, live and learn. In the meantime, this means continuing to buy bottled water for drinking, which really sucks.
I have to go take my glucose tolerance test this afternoon. For those who don’t know what this means, I basically have to drink sugar water, sit around for an hour, then have my blood tested to see how well my body processes sugar. If I fail, I will have to go for another round, and if I fail again, I’ll be diagnosed with gestational diabetes, which is a royal pain in the butt. It usually goes away after the baby is born, but it raises your risk level, and involves dietary changes and monitoring your blood sugar for the remainder of the pregnancy. My family has a crazy history of Type 2 Diabetes, so I’m pretty nervous. Wish me luck!
My pregnant bestie is coming to visit this weekend! Mandy is exactly one month ahead of me in pregnancy, and she and her hubs are coming up from Jersey for our housewarming party tomorrow night. I’m so excited to see them! It’s been really, really cool for us to be pregnant at the same time. We were super close before, but it seems like now, not a day goes by without a flurry of text messages exchanged, checking in on symptoms and how “glamorous” pregnancy can be. I feel so lucky that we’ve been able to rely on each other during this crazy time.
Any fun plans for the weekend?
