27 Week Pregnancy Update

According to my Ovia Pregnancy app, Baby Girl is the size of a bunch of bananas.

I have officially reached the stage where I am obviously, visibly pregnant, which is both nice and uncomfortable at the same time. Nice, in that most people are naturally inclined to be kind and friendly to a pregnant lady. Uncomfortable in the sense that I’m bracing for the inevitable barrage of unsolicited advice and belly touching strangers. Up to this point, I’ve been fairly shielded from this because it’s winter, and my giant puffy winter coat offers a lot of camouflage when I’m out and about. But as temperatures warm, I will be shedding my protective coat, and I know it’s only a matter of time before some well-meaning old lady grabs my belly. Ugh.

Baby Girl continues to get more and more active, which is the coolest and weirdest thing all at the same time. While the constant movement is reassuring, kicks to the back of my belly button feel SUPER strange. And there are times when I can feel that something is pressing extra hard on one side or another of my belly, and it’s like “Is that a baby butt? Or a head? What IS that?”

The big news this week is that I’ve finally been able to go on a few short, slow walks without any ligament pain! Strike up the band, people, this is a big deal! For months, yoga was pretty much the only activity that I could do without ligament pain, but this week, I went on several walks along the rail trail without pain OR feeling lightheaded. Woot!

The nursery is currently a gigantic mess, with clothes, burp cloths, and miscellaneous baby items haphazardly piled here and there. We’ve been so busy lately we just haven’t had a chance to really start putting things away. The good news is, we got a free dresser when Grammy moved to the nursing home, so we have what we need, we just need to effing do it already!

Mamas and Daddies out there, when did you finally get your nursery (mostly) together?
