28 Week Pregnancy Update

According to my Ovia Pregnancy app, Baby Girl is the size of a coconut.

Well, here we are in the third trimester. I truly can’t believe it. It feels like this pregnancy is just flying by, and I want it to slow the heck down!

This baby is getting more active than ever. I can almost constantly feel her squirming, kicking, and punching, especially if I press my hand to my belly. Ben has really enjoyed feeling these new, stronger movements. She also discovered a new trick this week–punching me in the bladder! It’s been super fun, let me tell you.

This was a particularly exhausting week due to work craziness and being on the makeup crew for Lyric Theatre’s production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I had to be at the theatre every night and on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. While it was lots of fun to see all my friends and help out with the show, I’m very happy to be getting back to a normal schedule for week 29.

We had a prenatal appointment on Tuesday, where I got to discuss a lot of my anxiety surrounding the three hour glucose test and possibly being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It was VERY reassuring. My midwife told me that the one hour test casts a very wide net, to capture anyone who might possibly be diabetic, and then the three hour test rules out the vast majority of those. She also said that even if I were to be diagnosed with gestational diabetes, as long as it’s not an extreme case, I would still be able to stay under the care of the midwifery practice rather than being booted over to Maternal Fetal Medicine. That was a huge load off my shoulders! She also let us know that we’re now at the point where I have an appointment every two weeks instead of once a month. Woah!

As it turns out, all of that worry was for nothing, as I passed the test with flying colors. No gestational diabetes for me, thank goodness! I celebrated with pancake breakfasts on both Saturday and Sunday mornings 🙂

It still feels like we have so much to do, and so little time in which to do it. I can’t believe Baby Girl will be here in twelve short weeks! Some projects for next week will include washing a lot of clothes, blankets, and burp cloths, and trying to bring some semblance of order to the chaos that is currently the nursery. I’d post a picture, but I’m kind of mortified. I’m also starting to make lists for hospital packing and whatnot. Crazy!

What are some hospital bag essentials I need to remember?

Friday Free-For-All – 04/06/18

Friday Free-For-All

TGIF. This has been a WEEK, my friends. First and foremost, it’s the first week of a new month and a new quarter, which is always my busy time at work. Secondly, my colleague was out, meaning that I had to do all of my work PLUS all of her work. And then to top it all off, I’m on the makeup crew for Lyric’s production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, meaning I was at the theatre for several hours each night this week other than Monday. I am POOPED! I’m also helping out for the Saturday and Sunday matinees this week, so I’ve got a long weekend ahead as well.

I completed my 3 hour glucose test this morning. It was, in a word, unpleasant. I had to fast from 10 pm until 11 am and have my blood drawn four separate times between 8 am and 11 am. Not to mention spending my morning in a hospital waiting room for the hematology/oncology ward, which was pretty freaking bleak. By the time I was released, I was starving and cranky, so I headed straight to Chipotle for a burrito bowl to soothe my frazzled soul. Now we await the results. Ugh.

Once again, we are behind the eight ball on filing our taxes.  I think last year we filed on the 14th? So at least we’re not quite that bad this time around, but still. I used to file by the end of February every single year. Obviously not so much anymore. I think Ben is planning to tackle them this weekend while I’m at the theatre. What a good husband!

We’re supposed to get snow tonight, and I am not here for it. I know I’ve said I don’t like to complain about the weather, but it’s been so lovely and warm lately I don’t want to go backwards. Of course, it snowed almost two inches on my birthday (May 9) last year, soooo, we’re probably not done with winter yet anyway.

How has your weather been lately?
