Friday Free-For-All – 10/27/17

We’re house sitting once again this weekend. Sadly, Fran, the woman we used to stay with and help out, passed away. She moved back to Michigan last year and just passed away after a bout of pneumonia. The family is headed out to Michigan for her funeral, so we are staying at the house to take care of the dogs. While it will be nice to have a house to ourselves for a few days, the circumstances suck.

I’ve come down with a bit of a cold. I’ve had a sore throat since Wednesday, and I’m just feeling under the weather. I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend, with hot tub time and plenty of cable TV. I can’t wait to watch endless Halloween movies!

My seltzer habit is getting a little ridiculous. Polar seltzer is my favorite beverage right now, hands down. I buy a 1 liter bottle at least two times a week. It’s just so tasty and refreshing! And much more fun than regular water.

I finally ordered more filters for my desktop humidifier. I didn’t really need to use it much after Dogfight, but now that it’s cold/flu season, and the heat has kicked on at home and the office, I need the extra moisture. Thankfully, the filters are very inexpensive and available on Amazon Prime, so they’ll be here today. Woot!

Do you like Halloween movies? I only like not-so-scary ones.

Friday Free-For-All – 10/30/15

FFFA (1)

The outpouring of support after my marathon announcement on Tuesday has been incredible. So many people have reached out to say good luck, congratulations, offer help, and say that they’ll be there to cheer me on. A friend of mine (multiple marathoner) who moved to Oregon recently sent an email offering tips, tricks, and even to help me with a training plan, and a friend from college who has run VCM actually popped by the blog to offer some advice. If I wasn’t excited already, I’m even more excited now that I know what an amazing support system I have in place. I can’t wait to start officially training in January!

I leave for Disney in less than a week! To say I’m excited would be the biggest understatement of all time. I haven’t been to Disney since I was three years old, so there’s the excitement of going to the Happiest Place on Earth, riding the rides, seeing the sites, and eating the food. But I also get to run a half marathon through the parks, and it culminates in a finisher’s party that’s part of the Food and Wine festival. And best of all, I FINALLY get to meet most of Team Can-Am in person. I’ll be running with Kim, Kellie, and Nicole, and we’ll be carrying a flat Lisa along for 13.1 miles of fun.

I still don’t have a Halloween costume. I was going to buy one of those Star Wars onesies, but when it came right down to it, I couldn’t justify the $25 for glorified PJs. I’ve had a few ideas since then, but nothing that wouldn’t involve spending money that I’d rather save for Disney. I may just have to bust out my tried and true Dorothy costume that I’ve worn umpteen times. We’ll see I guess. Speaking of Halloween…

I have not one, but TWO Halloween parties to attend tomorrow. Some theatre friends are hosting their annual Halloween shindig, and then another friend of ours is hosting one later in the evening as well. I feel like I’m back in college. PARTY TIME. EXCELLENT! Of course knowing me, I’ll still be home and in bed by midnight. I try to hang, but I’m just not that cool anymore.

Are you dressing up for Halloween? Any parties or fun plans?

Fall 2015 Bucket List

I usually make a seasonal bucket list, but I don’t think I’ve ever posted it to my blog before. After my dear friend Lisa posted hers last week, I decided to share mine as well, in the hopes that I might actually cross off one or two things this year!

Fall is my favorite season, and there are so many activities I enjoy that it can be hard to fit them all in, especially when I get busy with other things like work and theater activities. But this year, I’m DETERMINED to at least come close to completing my list. And so, without further ado, I give you my Fall 2015 Bucket List:

Fall Bucket List

Do you make seasonal bucket lists? If so, what’s the number one thing on your fall list?

Friday Free-For-All (Twenty)

Welcome to Friday Free-For-All, where I talk about anything and everything on my mind.  This is usually just a great big brain dump, so brace yourselves!

Happy Halloween!  One of my favorite holidays!  Everyone at work is in costume, and we’re having a pumpkin decorating contest and they got a catered lunch.  Score!  Then tonight, Ben and I are off to a “Boos and Booze” Halloween party that our friends are hosting.  I just need to be good and not drink too much and get to bed at a decent hour.  I also need to squeeze in a Hocus Pocus viewing, cause it’s the best Halloween movie of all time.

amok

Even though “amok” is spelled wrong… Grammar nerd alert!

I finally got my sit-stand desktop workstation!  A while back, I mentioned to our office manager that I’d like to have a sit-stand workstation, because I get really sore and lethargic sitting at a desk all day.  Time went by, and I figured she’d forgotten and I didn’t want to be a pest about it.  As it turns out, she had ordered it immediately, but it had been back-ordered.  It arrived Wednesday afternoon and we got it set up in no time.  I’m SO EXCITED!  It’s on a hydraulic lift system, so I can sit or stand whenever I want.  I’m hoping that this will resolve some of the neck/shoulder pain I’ve been experiencing lately, and will help me burn more calories during the day.  Woo!

There is a giant bowl of candy corn on my desk.  It’s taking all my willpower not to inhale it.  Whyyyyyyy?
