Friday Free-For-All – 09/01/17

Happy September! We’re definitely getting a touch of fall here in the northeast. It’s usually in the 40’s in the morning when I wake up, but it’s still nice and summery during the day. I’m hoping these warm days last through September to make up for the rainy, cold June we had.

I had my wisdom teeth out this morning. I took a “sick day” from work, because my appointment is at 11:30. Thankfully, I only had two left that need to come out (had the other two out back in college), and it was just be a simple extraction rather than a surgical procedure, because the teeth are in my mouth. So far, no swelling and manageable pain. I just hope I can attempt a long run on Sunday or Monday. I need to ask my oral surgeon about that…

Long weekend, whoop whoop! I’m VERY excited to have a four day weekend, thanks to oral surgery and Labor Day. We’re taking a quickie road trip to MA tomorrow to see a show, then I hope to run long at some point, and maybe do a hike and/or some swimming with Ben too. I just hope the weather holds out, and my mouth doesn’t hurt too much.

Have you had your wisdom teeth out?

Friday Free-For-All – 09/04/15

FFFA (1)

This is the final weekend of Chess performances. While on the whole, I will be really happy to have my life back, and have time for things like running and a social life, I’m not quite ready to let this show go yet. It’s been an incredible experience, and I feel like I’ve finally had a chance to show all my friends what I’m truly capable of. I’ve been blown away by the kind words and encouragement from friends and strangers alike. Praise is a heady thing. And of course I’ll miss the music, my friends, and the adrenaline rush of being on stage. But I definitely need the break. *sigh*

I totally forgot until yesterday that it’s Labor Day weekend. That means it’s a 3 day weekend! I get two entire days after Chess closes to rest, relax, and recover. I couldn’t be happier about that. I’m hoping the weather is nice, because I’d love to fit in some of the outdoor activities I’ve been missing out on this summer, most specifically, beach time/swimming. Right now the forecast looks good, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

I very foolishly scheduled a voice lesson at 8 tomorrow morning. This means that after the show tonight, I have to drive 45 minutes home, and then get up at the wrong side of Saturday morning and go sing. I’ve been toying with the idea of canceling, but my voice teacher is really difficult to schedule with, and it will be a good warm up before our final two show day, so I’m just sucking it up. But talk about poor planning.

Our cast party is going to be SO FUN! We’re all chipping in to rent a giant house in town with a HOT TUB. I’m so excited. I will eat, drink and be merry with abandon, because I don’t have to worry about saving my voice anymore (for the time being, at least). I can’t wait!

What are your weekend plans?

Friday Free-For-All (Twelve)

Welcome to Friday Free-For-All, where I talk about anything and everything on my mind.  This is usually just a great big brain dump, so brace yourselves!

Moving sucks.  There, I said it.  I’m sure you all know how much moving sucks.  It just does, there’s no getting around it.  We have too much crap.  Every time we move, we bitch about how we have too much crap, but we just keep shuttling it around and acquiring more crap all the time.  I will be a very happy girl on the day we buy a house and never have to move again.

Summer is almost over.  Seriously, how did that happen?  It’s crazy!  This time last year, Ben and I were packing up our apartment in Boston and getting ready to move in with his folks.  One year later, we’re packing up our Burlington apartment and getting ready to move in with his folks.  I feel like I’m stuck in a time loop.

I’m hoping that we can sneak in a few more summery activities before fall.  On my list are hiking Mt. Mansfield and swimming in a river.  Not negotiable.  On a related note…

Hooray for three-day weekends!  I couldn’t be happier about the timing of Labor Day and how it fits in with our moving schedule.  I’m hoping we can get all the moving crap done and over with by Sunday so that we can just use Monday as a relaxation/summer fun day.

I jumped on the Erin Condren life planner bandwagon.  I ordered this thing 3 weeks ago and it just shipped.  It had better be worth the wait (and the $50 price tag).  I seriously can’t wait to have this thing in my hot little hands.  I will always prefer an actual paper planner to a calendar app.  Call me a Luddite if you will, but that’s just how I roll.

I ordered this one in orange with light gray scales :)
