Weekend Update – Plague Part 2

Well, I didn’t mean to disappear for all of last week, but I was deathly ill from Wednesday until just yesterday, so there you have it.

I left work early on Wednesday afternoon with a terrible hacking cough, and a fever of 100.4. The fever peaked at 101.5 that night, then hung in around 100 until Saturday morning. I was out of work Thursday and Friday, and didn’t manage to get out of bed until yesterday. I was so congested in both my chest and head that I basically didn’t sleep for three straight days, and started hallucinating from exhaustion/anxiety on Friday night. It was a really great few days, let me tell ya. And now Ben is home sick. Oy.

So long story short, I’m even more behind on not just work work, but new house work AND blog stuff, so I’m not sure how much you’ll hear from me this week. I know I owe you a few trip recap posts and I’d love to update you on the house, but we’ll see. Right now, work work and house work need to come first. I’m hoping that we’ll be able to move in this coming weekend, but with Ben now ill, I’m not sure.

Weekend Update – PLAUGE

While my weekend was low-key, it wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned. Unfortunately, a stomach bug took out the entire family (excepting myself, thank GOD!) like dominoes, so by Sunday, everyone was just lying around and moaning in between bathroom trips.

Needless to say, not much was done. Before Ben was struck down, we had a decent Saturday of reading, video games, and movie watching, but it was all down hill from there. My usual weekend laundry was bumped to make room for all of the towels and bedding that needed to be sanitized, and I didn’t want to leave the house for fear of being Typhoid Mary and making other people sick. I sequestered myself with a book and a hot water bottle and *knock on wood* other than feeling a bit queasy and off today, I seem to have escaped the worst.

Ben stayed home from work today, and I’m hoping that everyone will be on the mend by the time I get home tonight. Depending on how my stomach feels, I may hit the gym after work, but I’m not willing to risk an incident in the name of a workout.

I hope you all had a healthier and livelier weekend!

We’re house sitting once again this weekend. Sadly, Fran, the woman we used to stay with and help out, passed away. She moved back to Michigan last year and just passed away after a bout of pneumonia. The family is headed out to Michigan for her funeral, so we are staying at the house to take care of the dogs. While it will be nice to have a house to ourselves for a few days, the circumstances suck.

I’ve come down with a bit of a cold. I’ve had a sore throat since Wednesday, and I’m just feeling under the weather. I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend, with hot tub time and plenty of cable TV. I can’t wait to watch endless Halloween movies!

My seltzer habit is getting a little ridiculous. Polar seltzer is my favorite beverage right now, hands down. I buy a 1 liter bottle at least two times a week. It’s just so tasty and refreshing! And much more fun than regular water.

I finally ordered more filters for my desktop humidifier. I didn’t really need to use it much after Dogfight, but now that it’s cold/flu season, and the heat has kicked on at home and the office, I need the extra moisture. Thankfully, the filters are very inexpensive and available on Amazon Prime, so they’ll be here today. Woot!

Do you like Halloween movies? I only like not-so-scary ones.

I just had my three year anniversary at work. I honestly can’t believe it’s already been that long. I know I sound like a broken record at this point, but I’m very lucky to have the job I do. Sure, it’s not a field or subject I’m passionate about, but the pay is great and the people are awesome. Also, I’m now fully vested in the 401(k) program, so, yay for retirement planning!

Long weekend ahead! We have Monday off for Presidents’ Day and I couldn’t be more stoked. Of course I will still have rehearsal and CrossFit and such, but it will be nice to have an extra weekend day for fun and productivity. And sleep. Sweet, sweet sleep.

I’m fighting a head cold and I hate it. Ben was sick all of last weekend and most of this week, and I can feel my body starting to succumb. I’ve got a dry, swollen throat, and some nasal congestion. I’m doing my absolute best not to give in, and fighting back with lots of tea, sinus irrigation (love my neti pot!), my desktop humidifier, and resting as much as possible. Which isn’t much because I’m stupid busy. But I’m trying. I simply don’t have time to be sick right now. My audition for Dogfight the musical is next weekend, and we leave for the Bahamas a week from Monday. No. Sickness. Here.
